HOW TO RECEIVE NEW LIFE FROM GOD... Start here.

[Youth]

Liam and Adrienne Coventry joined the Providence staff in October 2005—Liam serves as Youth Pastor with his wife Adrienne as his assistant. They are extremely excited about the direction God has led them in joining the New Life family. They have a passion and calling on their lives to see the youth of this generation fall madly in love with Jesus. They came to Providence with a long-term focus and commitment to investing and discipling the youth of this community.

In 1994, when Liam was a sophomore in high school, he felt a distinct call from God to fully commit his life to full-time ministry. He has been drastically influenced by different youth leaders in his life. Growing up in a single parent home as an only child, the roles that youth pastors had in his life were instrumental in forming the man of God that he has grown into. He has that very same zeal and desire to be an influence used by God to see other young people grow into men and women of God.

After Liam graduated from high school, he went to college for a semester while working in the Pastoral Care Department at Children’s Hospital of Dallas. After he had a ten-month bout with a brain tumor and experienced the peace of God all the way through, he wanted to dedicate a portion of his life to working in the neurosurgery department as a pastoral care volunteer encouraging others with his own testimony of the goodness of God.

In January 1998, Liam went directly into YWAM (Youth with A Mission). While there, he went through three and a half years of missions training schools: Discipleship Training School, School of Evangelism, School of Performing Arts, and a year-long seminary program called School of the Bible. While going through these different training programs, he was developing more and more of a heart after God, as well as using the performing arts as a form of communicating the gospel. Also within these three and a half years, he was pushed out into many leadership roles where he grew in pastoral and logistical responsibilities. While in YWAM, he pioneered and led a production team, Regeneration Productions. He led this team for just over two years and had the opportunity to help write and create a number of different full-length multimedia presentations.

The team traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada nine months out of the year performing in churches, colleges, high schools, and auditoriums. Through this, he saw individuals’ lives transformed and revived. The other three months out of the year the team would work with a summer missions camp program, leading and training different teams of youth to go on missions trips. Meanwhile Liam’s heart grew more and more with a desire to pastor and disciple. Every time he had to say goodbye to a community and a young person, he felt unfilled knowing he would love to stay and continue to invest into that person. He has always longed and waited for the right opportunity to be planted into a community long-term.

While leading Regeneration Productions, Liam received the surprise of his life. Little did he know, while recruiting a number of YWAM students to travel with the team, that it wasn’t just a new team member he was recruiting, but his future best friend and companion, Adrienne Wolford. After a few months of traveling with the team, Adrienne won Liam’s heart—and there was no denying that God was intimately involved with the orchestrating of this relationship.

On January 15, 2005 Pastor Dan Backens, as well as Liam’s pastor from Texas, were part of marrying Liam and Adrienne. They had no clue that just nine months later Liam and Adrienne would have the great opportunity of serving under Pastor Dan to pray and strive to see the community of Hampton Roads transformed. Adrienne had grown up in the Virginia Beach area attending New Life Providence for several years before going to YWAM. While at New Life, she worked with and helped lead much of the church’s dance ministry. She had grown up taking dance for nearly 15 years and loves to use dance as a form of worship to express her love to God.

Now with Liam and Adrienne being committed long-term to New Life Providence, their primary responsibilities are to serve in the development and growth of the youth department. They long to see young people passionately, radically committed to love God and love others. They are honored and humbled to serve within this community. They know that this is the place God has called them to invest into.

Liam and Adrienne have a son, Shiloh, who was born June 18, 2007.
