Tim Leffel joined the New Life Providence Church staff in July 2007 as the Worship & Creative Arts Assistant. Tim is the worship coordinator for Saturday night worship service at the Kempsville campus. He also serves as the worship leader for the Joel 2:28 ministries, The Venue. Tim is originally from Flint, Michigan where his love for music started at a young age. He recently accepted the position as media director for our church and is building a team of volunteers to take our creative arts department to the next level! We are excited to have Tim on board full-time.
Tim received his first keyboard at the age of ten and immediately was able to teach himself how to play. He began leading worship at his home church at the age of 17 and has been worshipping since. Tim attended Oral Roberts University where he was heavily involved in the campus music and ministries departments. During his time at Oral Roberts, he led campus worship services and was the worship assistant for ORU Music Ministries. Tim has worked with many renowned artists, like Desperation Band’s Glenn Packiam, Jon Egan, and Jared Anderson, as well as worship leaders Kari Jobe and Michael Gungor. Tim was band leader for several worship tours, which allowed him to travel to South Africa, Aruba, Curacao, East Coast U.S., and West Coast U.S. Tim produced his own CD, “Caught Away,” in 2001.
During his time at ORU, Tim met his current wife, Amanda, and they were married on May 21, 2005. Regent University led them to Virginia Beach where they were introduced to New Life Providence Church in 2005. Within the next couple years, Tim began to become more and more involved, when a need arose for a worship coordinator for a new service on Saturday nights…this is where Tim’s worship leading began for New Life Providence Church.
Along with Tim’s experience, he brings a passionate heart for God and worship, and wants to see God’s people strive for excellence within their chosen gifting. “I’d love to see every nation, tribe, and tongue truly glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ!”
Tim is also a gifted songwriter, and a few of his songs have been introduced into the weekly worship service. “Come Lord” has become a staple at Wednesday early morning prayer gatherings.
“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name, worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness” Psalm 29:2
