Doug Chandler moved to the Virginia Beach area from Connecticut in 1995, to pursue his education at Regent University following two years of missionary service with Elim Fellowship in Tanzania, Africa. Doug met his wife and best friend, Diane, at Regent and saw their relationship develop as they co-led a life group in their local church over the next year. They were married in 1996 and have been members of New Life Providence since 1997.

Doug graduated from Regent in 1999 with an MBA and MA in Missiology and joined the staff of Regent’s Graduate School of Business soon thereafter. He served in a variety of roles within the school, including as an instructor and the Associate Dean of Academic & Student Affairs. In July 2006, Doug transitioned from his role at Regent to direct the New Life School of Missions, an 11-month missionary training program designed to equip members of the New Life family of churches who feel called to serve God among the nations.

In May 2008, Doug put on a 2nd “hat” at New Life as the Director of Life Group Ministries. He and Diane have had extensive experience in life group ministry over the years, serving as life group leaders, zone servants and life group trainers, and currently lead an international life group of young adults and students from various nations from around the world. Doug’s vision and call is to train, encourage and mentor emerging leaders and to mobilize and network the Church to strategically impact the nations for Christ.

In his spare time, Doug serves as a life coach for Life Forming Coaching. He also enjoys hiking, backpacking, photography, playing his guitar, reading a good book at Starbucks and exploring new places and cultures. Doug’s travels have taken him to many nations, including Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Philippines, South Korea, Mongolia, Malta, Italy, Germany, England and France. So many nations, so little time!

Together, Doug and Diane feel tremendously blessed to be a small part of what God is doing at New Life Providence and count it a privilege to serve you and the leadership of the church. They believe we have only just begun to see what God intends to do in and through our church to extend His glory to Hampton Roads and to the nations!
