Pastor Kirby Anthony joined the New Life Providence church staff in January of 2009. He has been serving the body of Christ in pastoral ministry for over 10 years. In pursuit of fulfilling God’s purpose for his life, in October 2007 he joined New Life Ministries International’s Church Multiplication Center, a tailor- made training and matching program that prepares and sends leaders for church plants and expansions that disciple various cultural groups locally, regionally, and internationally.
After graduating from high school, Kirby enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Eisenhower located on Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, VA. He soon became a member of a dynamic local church where he began his training for vocational ministry. It was at this church that he met his future wife, Tara Anthony, to whom he has been married to over 11 years. They share three beautiful children: Jerome, Kayla, and Khalil. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Kirby enrolled in a local Bible college, eventually graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology.
Over the years he has gathered a wealth of ministerial experience serving as a youth minister, small group leader, and assistant director of outreach in a church of 7,000-plus members. Along the way he has spent countless hours sharing the gospel and counseling individuals, leading them into a more mature understanding of Jesus Christ. An experienced minister and pastor, he has shared God’s Word in various congregations across the Tidewater area and in North Carolina.
Currently, Kirby heads up our 1st Season Marriages, which provides mentoring based ministry for couples married seven years or less.
