Rachel came on staff as Life Group Ministry Assistant in March 2009. She has been attending New Life Providence since our first Sunday at Indian River High School. During her senior year of high school, she worked part-time as one of our receptionists, and since then she has served in several volunteer capacities around our church.
After graduating, Rachel traveled to Australia and Ethiopia with Youth with a Mission (YWAM), going through their Discipleship Training School. Her heart for missions began developing while taking annual summer trips with New Life, and ministering with YWAM only deepened this calling. Shortly after completing her YWAM DTS she began working at an international missions agency in Virginia Beach. Working there for three years opened her eyes to how God is working in the Global Church, and how He wants to reach the least-reached peoples of the world. In 2006, Rachel joined the inaugural class of the New Life School of Missions, led by Doug Chandler. This 11-month school helped her see how God will personally use her giftings in international ministry and reaching whatever people groups He calls her to.
Rachel is now pursuing her Bachelor’s in Education, with plans to be certified in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL/TESL). She desires to use this training to minister to the practical needs of those she serves overseas while also ministering the love of God.
In the meantime, Rachel is thrilled to be on staff again with New Life Providence, serving with Doug and the Life Group Ministry.
