Familiar with New Life Christian
Fellowship (NLCF) from a member’s perspective, Rolinda Marcum
decided to see what it would be like to work as a staff member
when hired as secretary on August 29, 1997. She provides administrative
support for senior pastor Dan Backens, oversees the functioning of the church offices, and coordinates additional church-related projects.
Retired from eighteen years of civil service for the U.S.
Navy in the capacity of executive secretary and administrative
assistant for various commands, Rolinda was more than prepared
to work with the Providence team!
“I consider it a ministry and a perfect fit with the
experience and abilities I have to be able to serve as the
Providence office manager,” expresses the Hampton Roads
native. “I love working in a Christian environment! Having the privilege and blessing of working with Pastor Dan and the Providence staff and leadership, it has been an exciting journey. The walk of faith in how God has led New Life Providence to evolve into a cutting edge church of the future.”
Rolinda also serves in the children’s Sunday school
program, currently team-teaching the 4 & 5
year olds. She balances these roles while also being a co-leader for a youth girls life group and also co-leads a Life Group for women.
Happily married for thirty years to Ron, the couple has
two adult children, Amber and Alex. Rolinda enjoys hobbies including
collecting anything with butterflies, gardening, and watching
old black and white films.
